The Relic

The Dweller Realm is a network of caves so large that anyone who goes looking for an exit either starves to death or comes back insane.  

The only person to ever escape is Hergvoal, who forged a relic with arcane powers strong enough to create a portal to the surface. Legend has it that he created a second relic, but Hergvoal's workshop was caved in by an earthquake, leaving the relic untouched for centuries.
